Review: Romeo y Julieta

This brand, first developed in 1875 and named for the infamous “star-crossed lovers,” has had a love affair of its own with the smoking public for the past 135 years.

Historically, the Romeo y Julieta line has grown in popularity by leaps and bounds. From 1903 to 1954, the brand was vigorously endorsed by the now-legendary Jose “Pepin” Rodriguez Fernandez.

Through his connections and world travels, Fernandez brought the brand into the limelight and saw to the development of over 2000 personalized cigar brands- perhaps most famously creating the “Churchill” shape, a long 7″ by 47 ring gauge cigar.

If Winston Churchill, one of the most well recognized cigar-brandishing herfers of history, is a fan, then who are we to argue?

Characteristics of the brand across the board are an easy draw, a classic sweet and cedar flavor, and only improving with age.
